Scholarships are available for STEM students at Craven Community College!
Craven Community College was awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation to provide scholarships to students pursuing a degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) field. The Scholars in Engineering and Science (SEAS) Program provides up to $3500 per year for tuition, fees, and books while attending Craven CC and will assist in identifying and applying for scholarships to the 4-year institution of the student’s choice. In addition to scholarships, SEAS Scholars will have access to priority registration, directed advising, interaction with STEM professionals, four year university campus visits, fun and educational trips, etc.
There are scholarships available and applications are now being accepted for the Fall 2017 semester. The application deadline is June 15, 2017.

North Carolina Beta Alpha Education Scholarship (Mary Conlon Scholarship) Alpha Delta Kappa
The Mary Conlon Scholarship is awarded annually by the Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa. The scholarship, in the amount of $500.00, is awarded to a Craven or Carteret high school senior or graduate who is preparing to enter the field of education.

He attended New Bern public schools and went on to receive his higher education at Trinity College (now Duke University). Albert Bangert was always public spirited and his generosity was known by many young people to whom he supplied money to attend school. Long before his death, he planned to consecrate his property to the education and training of deserving young people.

The $10,000 CarolinaEast Health System Auxiliary Scholarship Program is being offered to students again pursuing a field in healthcare!! In addition several one-time grants ranging in dollar value are awarded yearly. The main goal of the Auxiliary Scholarship program is to find well rounded students with high academic achievements during high school that are in need of financial assistance to pursue a career in a health care field.

The NC Society of Accountants has established a tax exempt Scholarship Foundation as a vehicle to provide scholarships for deserving students who have indicated a desire to enter the profession of Accounting. ELIGIBLE STUDENTS:
To qualify for the New Bern Young Professional Group Scholarship, a student must meet the following basic selection criteria:
1. Be a graduating high school senior in Craven County.
2. Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at a North Carolina institution of higher education (University or four year college) as a full-time student OR a two-year North Carolina Community College.
3. Have a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher.
4. Submit a completed application form and sealed high school transcript to New Bern Area Young Professionals Group by 5:00 p.m. on April 21, 2017.
5. Submit a Resume detailing your education, work experience, honors and awards, extracurricular events and community activities, and employment.
6. Submit a 500-word essay on your career plan upon graduating from a four-year university or a two-year community college.
7. Submit a copy of your acceptance letter from the college/university you plan to attend. This letter will be from the registrar’s office, and must be signed and dated by a certified college official. This is a one-time partial scholarship for a graduating high school senior attending Craven County Schools. This scholarship is nonrenewable, for freshman college year only, and will be paid directly to the College or University you will be attending. Preference will be given to students who have not received several other grants/scholarships and who have a financial need.
Application Process
Step 1: Obtain an application from your high school counselor.
Step 2: Submit your application, high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores, acceptance letter and essay to New Bern Area Young Professionals Group (address above). Your application must be submitted by April 21, 2017. Incomplete applications will not be considered for the scholarship.
Step 3: Attach all official transcripts including SAT/ACT scores with the cumulative grade point average highlighted.
Step 4: Include a current résumé that details your education, work experience, honors and awards, extracurricular events and community activities, and employment.
Step 5: Provide three sealed letters of recommendation. One must be from a teacher at the school that you have attended recently.
Step 6: The scholarship committee will review applications and notify selected recipients.

The Mary Conlon Scholarship is awarded annually by the Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa. The scholarship, in the amount of $500.00, is awarded to a Craven or Carteret high school senior or graduate who is preparing to enter the field of education.

DEADLINE APPROACHING MARCH 31!!!_AH Bangert Scholarship- Albert Hubbard Bangert was born in New Bern in 1873 and died in 1944 at the age of 71. He attended New Bern public schools and went on to receive his higher education at Trinity College (now Duke University). Albert Bangert was always public spirited and his generosity was known by many young people to whom he supplied money to attend school. Long before his death, he planned to consecrate his property to the education and training of deserving young people.
The trustees, Craven County Board of Education, offer three A. H. Bangert programs to students who meet the following requirements:
- be a graduate of a public high school in Craven County
- be formally accepted for admission to an accredited college or university
- maintain a grade point average of 3.0 for the scholarship or
- maintain a grade point average of 2.5 for the loan program

The $10,000 CarolinaEast Health System Auxiliary Scholarship Program is being offered to students again pursuing a field in healthcare!! In addition several one-time grants ranging in dollar value are awarded yearly. The main goal of the Auxiliary Scholarship program is to find well rounded students with high academic achievements during high school that are in need of financial assistance to pursue a career in a health care field.

The NC Society of Accountants has established a tax exempt Scholarship Foundation as a vehicle to provide scholarships for deserving students who have indicated a desire to enter the profession of Accounting. ELIGIBLE STUDENTS:
To qualify for the New Bern Young Professional Group Scholarship, a student must meet the following basic selection criteria:
1. Be a graduating high school senior in Craven County.
2. Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at a North Carolina institution of higher education (University or four year college) as a full-time student OR a two-year North Carolina Community College.
3. Have a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher.
4. Submit a completed application form and sealed high school transcript to New Bern Area Young Professionals Group by 5:00 p.m. on April 21, 2017.
5. Submit a Resume detailing your education, work experience, honors and awards, extracurricular events and community activities, and employment.
6. Submit a 500-word essay on your career plan upon graduating from a four-year university or a two-year community college.
7. Submit a copy of your acceptance letter from the college/university you plan to attend. This letter will be from the registrar’s office, and must be signed and dated by a certified college official. This is a one-time partial scholarship for a graduating high school senior attending Craven County Schools. This scholarship is nonrenewable, for freshman college year only, and will be paid directly to the College or University you will be attending. Preference will be given to students who have not received several other grants/scholarships and who have a financial need.
Application Process
Step 1: Obtain an application from your high school counselor.
Step 2: Submit your application, high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores, acceptance letter and essay to New Bern Area Young Professionals Group (address above). Your application must be submitted by April 21, 2017. Incomplete applications will not be considered for the scholarship.
Step 3: Attach all official transcripts including SAT/ACT scores with the cumulative grade point average highlighted.
Step 4: Include a current résumé that details your education, work experience, honors and awards, extracurricular events and community activities, and employment.
Step 5: Provide three sealed letters of recommendation. One must be from a teacher at the school that you have attended recently.
Step 6: The scholarship committee will review applications and notify selected recipients.

The New Bern Rotary Scholarship Foundation is pleased to offer a $12,000.00 scholarship to a qualified applicant. This award is payable at the rate of $3,000.00 annually for four years if the recipient continues to meet the guidelines of the foundation and maintains a “B” average.
The materials noted in this letter comprise all the information needed to make a formal application for the scholarship. The deadline for the return of the application is April 3, 2017, at which time all of the following requirements must be in the hands of the scholarship committee:

In appreciation for the Service and Sacrifices of North Carolina’s war veterans, a four year scholarship program at North Carolina approved schools has been established for the qualifying children of certain class or category of deceased, disabled, combat or POW/MIA Veterans.
Residency Requirements: • Applicant must be under age 25; a resident and Domiciled in North Carolina. • Veteran parent was a legal resident of North Carolina at the time of said veteran’s entrance into that period of service in the armed forces during which eligibility is established, OR • The applicant is the natural child or adopted child prior to age 15, who was born in North Carolina and has been a resident of North Carolina continuously since birth. Criteria for Veteran Parent:
The veteran’s qualifying criteria must have occurred during a period of war. The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2017 competition.
From April 6-9, 2017 the 20 top finalists will participate in an all expenses paid Leadership Weekend in Chicago during which they’ll interview with the national judges. These 20 finalists will be vying for two first-place awards of $50,000; two second-place awards of $40,000; and two third-place awards of $30,000. The Coastal Carolina Post, Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) intends to award up to two, four-year college scholarships valued at up to $2,000 each. These scholarships will be awarded to the most deserving applicants based on academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, and affiliation with SAME.
Awards will be made in four equal annual increments. Awards in years two through four will be contingent on the recipient maintaining acceptable performance in their academics (GPA of 3.0 or higher) and extracurricular activities (evidence of continued and additional participation). The applicant must submit a completed application by November 7, 2016.
To be eligible for the scholarship the applicant must meet the following requirements: (1) Be a high school senior planning to enroll in an engineering, architectural, or a similar technical field curriculum at an accredited college or university. Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative (CCEC) and its foundation have set aside funds to provide four scholarships – two each at Carteret Community College and Craven Community College, beginning in the fall. The scholarships pay $250 per student each semester. They are renewable for three additional semesters, for a total of $1,000 per student for two years of community college studies.
Scholarships will be awarded according to need (75 percent) and merit (25 percent), which will be based on a letter from the student describing his or her educational goals and plans for the future, as well as any special needs or circumstances the student may have. To renew, the student must maintain a 2.5 grade-point average.

In appreciation for the Service and Sacrifices of North Carolina’s war veterans, a four year scholarship program at North Carolina approved schools has been established for the qualifying children of certain class or category of deceased, disabled, combat or POW/MIA Veterans.
Residency Requirements: • Applicant must be under age 25; a resident and Domiciled in North Carolina. • Veteran parent was a legal resident of North Carolina at the time of said veteran’s entrance into that period of service in the armed forces during which eligibility is established, OR • The applicant is the natural child or adopted child prior to age 15, who was born in North Carolina and has been a resident of North Carolina continuously since birth. Criteria for Veteran Parent:
The veteran’s qualifying criteria must have occurred during a period of war. (Exception: Eligibility may exist for peacetime veterans or reservists/National Guard if disability or death was incurred as a result of armed conflict or while engaged in extra-hazardous service.) 1. Dies during wartime service or service connected death (1); or 2. 100% totally disabled due to war time disability (1); or 3. 20-90% service connected or received Purple Heart due to war time disability (2); or 4. The Coastal Carolina Post, Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) intends to award up to two, four-year college scholarships valued at up to $2,000 each. These scholarships will be awarded to the most deserving applicants based on academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, and affiliation with SAME.
Awards will be made in four equal annual increments. Awards in years two through four will be contingent on the recipient maintaining acceptable performance in their academics (GPA of 3.0 or higher) and extracurricular activities (evidence of continued and additional participation). The Robertson Scholarship-UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke
The High School selection process is for current high school students applying to enter Duke/UNC in the fall of 2017. All students who wish to be considered for the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program are strongly encouraged to complete the online application. While all students who apply to Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill are automatically considered for merit scholarships, completing the Robertson online application is the only way to ensure that the student’s materials will be reviewed by our selection committee.

Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative (CCEC) and its foundation have set aside funds to provide four scholarships – two each at Carteret Community College and Craven Community College, beginning in the fall. The scholarships pay $250 per student each semester. They are renewable for three additional semesters, for a total of $1,000 per student for two years of community college studies.
Scholarships will be awarded according to need (75 percent) and merit (25 percent), which will be based on a letter from the student describing his or her educational goals and plans for the future, as well as any special needs or circumstances the student may have. To renew, the student must maintain a 2.5 grade-point average.

New Bern Woman’s Club “Sallie Southall Cotten” Scholarship This $1000 scholarship is open to all high school seniors who meet the application criteria. The Crumley Roberts Founder's Scholarship will provide financial assistance to three(3) North Carolina high school seniors who will enroll at accredited colleges or universities in the fall of 2016.Crumley Roberts, LLP is a law firm with offices in several North Carolina counties.
Eligibility
To be considered, a candidate must:
- Be a graduating high school senior who will be attending a four-year accredited college or university.
- Have a minimum weighted high school GPA of 3.2 to apply.
- Must be 18 years of age by September 1, 2016, and scholarship funds will be distributed only after student who has been selected for the receipt of a scholarship has reached 18 years of age.
- Submit two (2) letters of recommendations from a teacher, counselor, or another adult who is familiar with the applicant's academic achievements and/or extracurricular activities.

The Scholarship Board of the North Carolina State Council - ESA provides scholarships to individuals majoring in Special Education.
Eligibility:
Applicants must meet these eligibility requirements
- Be a rising junior, senior or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university. Teachers seeking continuing education courses may also apply.
- Currently training to work specifically with people with special needs up to age 21, excluding the academically gifted, in an educational setting.
